Die "Slawistik", die "Baltistik" und die "Finno-Ugristik" befassen sich als Zweige der neueren Philologien mit Sprache, Literatur und Landeskunde der Völker zwischen Oder und Ural, zwischen Ostsee und Adria.

Gegenstand
Dabei erforscht die "Slawistik" die Sprachen und Literaturen der slawischen Völker in Vergangenheit und Gegenwart, wobei üblicherweise drei Sprachfamilien unterschieden werden. Das "Russische", "Weißrussische" und "Ukrainische" zählen zu den "ostslawischen Sprachen". Zur Familie der "westslawischen Sprachen" gehören das "Polnische", "Tschechische", "Slowakische" und "Sorbische". Das "Serbische", "Kroatische", "Bulgarische", "Makedonische" und "Slowenische" hingegen sind Teil der "südslawischen Sprachen".

Sprachgeschichtlich bedeutsam und ein wichtiger Schwerpunkt im Studium der "Slawistik" ist das "Altkirchenslawische". Dabei handelt es sich um die älteste belegte slawische Schriftsprache.

Die "Baltistik" und die "Finno-Ugristik" befassen sich dagegen mit den Völkern Osteuropas, deren Sprachen nichtslawischen Ursprungs sind. Darunter fallen die Kulturen der zur indogermanischen Sprachfamilie gehörenden "Letten", "Litauer" sowie die "Prußen".

Die Finno-Ugristik legt dagegen den Schwerpunkt auf die zur gleichnamigen Sprachfamilie zählenden Völker, namentlich die "Finnen", "Esten", "Samen" und "Ungarn". Daneben widmet sie sich auch den Völkerschaften, die zur gleichen Sprachfamilie zählen und auf dem Gebiet der Russischen Föderation zu Hause sind - so etwa die "Karelier", "Komi", "Udmurten", "Mordwinen", "Mari", "Ostjaken", "Wogulen", "Nenzen", "Liven", "Woten", "Enzen", "Nganasanen" und "Selkupen".

Zum anderen betreiben sie sprachwissenschaftliche Forschung und befassen sich mit "Phonetik", "Morphologie", "Syntax" und "Pragmatik" der Sprachen.

EuroLinguistiX

EuroLinguistiX (ELiX), founded in July 2004, is a virtual venue dedicated to cross-linguistic issues of European western civilization (especially on linguistic and cultural history, language systems, sociology of language(s), language politics, international communication). ELiX wants to be the central forum for European linguistics (E. Eurolinguistics, G. Eurolinguistik, Fr. Eurolinguistique, It. Eurolinguistica, Sp. Eurolingüística).

Kurzbeschreibung
The volume adopts the methodological perspective of Corpus Linguistics, the rapidly evolving branch of linguistics based on the computerized analysis of language used in authentic settings. The chapters provide new data, methods, and insights to many classic topics of Cognitive Linguistics and pave the way for further integration of usage-based techniques of analysis within this exciting paradigm.

The key characteristic of this volume is that all papers adopt the methodological perspective of Corpus Linguistics, the rapidly evolving branch of linguistics based on the computerized analysis of language used in authentic settings. Thus, the contributions do not only all provide various new insights in their respective fields, they also introduce new data as well as new corpus-based and quantitative methods of analysis. On the basis of their findings, the authors discuss both theoretical implications going well beyond the singular topics of the studies and show how the discipline of Cognitive Linguistics can benefit from the rigorous analysis of naturally-occurring language. The languages which are investigated are English, German, Dutch, and Russian, and the data come from a variety of different corpora. As such, the present volume will be of interest to a wide range of scholars with many different foci and interests and should pave the way for further integration of usage-based techniques of analysis within this exciting paradigm.

EuroLinguistischer Parcours Kernwissen zur europäischen Sprachkultur

Kurzbeschreibung

Der EuroLinguistische Parcours möchte dazu beitragen, die sprachkulturelle Zusammengehörigkeit Europas im Bewusstsein seiner Mitglieder besser zu verankern. Europa wird dabei kulturanthropologisch (nicht politisch oder geographisch) definiert. Es ist also als jener Kulturkreis, der sich des lateinischen Alphabets bedient, der sich durch das Erbe der Antike, das Christentum und das germanische Element auszeichnet, der die Wiege der Universität und der allgemeinen Schulpflicht ist und der durch die Aufklärung geprägt ist. Der EuroLinguistische Parcours erarbeitet eine sprachenbezogene Schnittmenge der europäischen Nationen und grenzt dabei auch von anderen Kulturkreisen (wie dem nordamerikanischem, dem lateinamerikanischem, dem slawisch-orthodoxen, dem arabischen, dem hinduistischen, dem sinischen und dem japanischen) ab.
Das Buch ist in 9 unabhängige Beiträge gegliedert. Behandelt werden Sprach- und Kulturgeschichte, Sprachkontakt, Sprachpolitik, Wortschatz-, Grammatik- und Lautsysteme, Fragen der interkulturellen Kommunikation sowie die Beziehung zwischen Sprache und Ökonomie. Mit dem Ziel einer verständlichen Wissenschaft wendet sich das Buch nicht nur an das linguistische Fachpublikum, sondern an eine breite Öffentlichkeit. Es wendet sich ferner an alle EuropäerInnen und gibt daher keinen bestimmten Sprache einen Vorrang in der Darstellung. Das Buch kann auch als Lehrbuch in Europastudiengängen verwendet werden, da es ein Kernwissen vermittelt und zu tiefgehenderen Projekten anregen möchte.
